Week 4 Post 1: Defining Target Markets

I took a look at all of the websites, and are we surprised that I picked succulents? I don't think so LOL. They go with my website theme and I own many so why not. After looking through both Armstrong Garden Centers and Rancho Vista Nursery, you can tell they target similar but different clientele. Armstrong is for an everyday customer. You can go into one of their chain locations and come out with only one or a couple plants of your choosing. On the other hand, Rancho Vista Nursery is targeted at people who want to buy larger quantities and there is only one location. I believe the crossover would be that they both are willing to sell to everyday people but Rancho Vista Nursery only does it at certain times.

There are obvious differences between both of these businesses ' websites. Armstrong's website has way more pages you can browse through. You can customize your experience by putting in your zip code which lets you shop through your closest location. Their website is vibrant and super visually welcoming! The structure of their page and their photos are a great plus, they don't take away from the information on the page but add that extra umft. Everything is easy to locate. To learn about the business, you do have to switch over to the "about us" tab. They have other tabs that give you many resources to make your shopping experience a good one. What I found interesting was that they have a tab for classes and events. They had a tab where you could schedule an appointment to talk to someone about gardens and plants. So basically someone that can answer any of your questions. Since COVID-19 they did suspend it and are planning on getting back up as soon as it's safe. Their "advice" tab also caught my eye, since there are other sub-tabs under it. I loved that they have a "This Month in the Garden" which shows you the perfect plant to buy or special tips on how to maintain your garden in a certain month! I thought it was such a great tab. They have cute DIY tabs and even some kid options that include how to do some interesting activities with your kids! Their website is actually really cool and enjoyed looking through it. Since I am personally really into indoor plants and love watching my fruit sprout in my garden. Overall Armstrong's webpage was great to me and will probably stop by to shop there this weekend.

Ranchos Vista Nursery's webpage was very interesting. It somewhat didn't feel like a website but a blog or a flyer. There weren't many tabs or links. It did seem that you would have to do some investigating to get more information on the business. It had the basic information on their website like their location, the "about us" and their social media. Their format and layout was is great but wish there was a little more to their site. Their text size could be a little larger but it was also decent. I wouldn't say their website called to action. If anything sadly I would have just looked at their site and would probably just forgot about it. I feel bad for saying that but I'm just being honest. I would most likely not be their targeted customer since I am not looking to purchase wholesale, as much as I wish I was.
